Fishing Report for 7-3-12

The heat wave we’ve been having has made mid day fishing tough. Fishing early and late in the day has paid off with some nice catches this past week, the other day we fished in the evening and caught a ton of fish, crappies, bass and bluegill made up most of the catch. The crappies on the Chippewa Flowage have seemed to slowed down some with the heat though. Yesterday we fished a deep clear lake and did good once we found active fish, walleyes and nice smallmouth were the bases of the catch there. Water temps everywhere have rocketed into the 80 degree range. When practicing catch and release be sure not to have any fish out of the water for any length of time during periods of high water temps.
Good luck and good fishing,
Jim Stroede
